Welcome to The Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council website. Your presence shows a commitment to your neighborhood and your city. Our regular Board Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every other month. The next meeting will be on January 14, 2009 (7:00 p.m., at the Wilshire Ebell, at Wilshire & Lucerne). All are welcome to attend. If you have an item you would like placed on our agenda, please contact info@greaterwilshire.org or (424) 901-1409, at least two weeks before the meeting.

Town Hall Meeting

Please join Councilmember Tom LaBonge at a Town Hall Meeting to meet the personnel of the New Los Angeles Police Departments Olympic Station.

This new station will be providing service your area.

Also on the agenda, obtaining feed back on possible capital improvement projects in the area.

Wilshire Boulevard Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Community Meetings

The City of Los Angeles, Metro, and the County of Los Angeles are considering the feasibility of implementing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on Wilshire Boulevard. This project will examine the potential for dedicated curbside bus lanes during the morning and evening rush hours. There will be 4 community meetings held throughout the project area to learn about and comment on the project.

SurveyLA, the Los Angeles Historic Resources Survey – http://preservation.lacity.org/survey - is Los Angeles' first-ever comprehensive program to identify significant historic resources throughout our city. The survey marks a coming-of-age for Los Angeles' historic preservation movement, and will serve as a centerpiece for the City’s first truly comprehensive preservation program.

PUBLIC Comment: The public is requested to fill out a” Speaker Card” to address the Board on anyitem on the agenda. Comments from the public on the agenda items will be heard only when that item is being considered. Comments from the public on other matters, not appearing on the agenda but within the Board’s subject matter jurisdiction, will be heard during the Public Comment period. Public comment is limited to two (2) minutes per speaker, unless waived by the presiding officer of the Board.

Department of Transportation Announces Safety Guidelines for Trick-or-Treaters

The City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) wants to remind parents that Halloween is a good time to teach children about pedestrian and traffic safety.

LADOT has issued simple guidelines that will help safeguard children on Halloween night and whenever they walk in their neighborhoods at night.

● Adults should accompany children to make sure safety rules are followed.
● Cross streets only at intersections and look both ways before crossing a street.
● Walk within crosswalks.
● Wear white or reflective clothing.

City of L.A. Department of City Planning Public Outreach Training

Public Input for new Cultural Master Plan

Grand Opening of the New Robert Burns Park Play Area

The collaboration of hard work on behalf of the Council District 4, Recreation and Parks Department, Neighbors, Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council and Windsor Square Home Owners Association has reached its first goal, the Grand Opening of the Play Structure.
