Rec & Parks Community Feedback Meetings

LA’s Department of Recreation and Parks is looking for feedback from the many neighborhoods it serves and they have scheduled a series of community meetings to discuss the department’s budget, the services it provides, and prospective sources of revenue.

LA’s City Council directed Recreation and Parks (Council File 13-0807) to engage the community and create an opportunity for input and comments on the restoration of the Department’s operations and maintenance budget, beginning in Fiscal Year 2018/2019.

The two meetings relevant to the GWNC area are:

Metro Purple Line Extension Advisory Group Meeting - Tuesday, October 29

Please join Metro for the Purple Line Extension’s first Section I Advisory Group meeting of the fall! Metro will provide updates on the project’s status and activities as they prepare for construction.

Free Street Trees Available from the City

The City of Los Angeles currently has a federally grant funded program in which free street trees are being planted along the parkway. The only requirements are that participants must agree to water their tree(s) and they must live within the City. For more information please go to http://www.environmentla.org/treeplanting.cfm or call (213) 485-3954. Also, please help spread the word to residents and business owners. Together we can beautify the neighborhood and create a more sustainable City!

ReCodeLA Virtual Listenting Session on Zoning Code Changes

Described as "a webinar that includes a presentation followed by Q&A with the consultant team and city staff," the event will provide an opportunity for listeners to "share your ideas on how to better address neighborhood concerns and improve the quality of life in the City of Los Angeles."
