Community Meetings will Collect Stakeholder Input for New Zoning Code

Submitted by lizfuller on Mon, 07/08/2013 - 12:35.

City Planning is kicking off its $5 million 5-year planning code revision journey by slowing down and listening – to you, to your community, to the people of Los Angeles. There are four listening sessions scheduled for this coming week, giving Angelenos an opportunity to talk about planning, land use, zoning and ideas for creating livable communities, encouraging sustainable development, and fostering economic vitality.

LA’s current zoning code is an unwieldy, 600+ page book that bears little resemblance to the 84-page pamphlet that was first adopted in 1946. Since then, life has gotten more complicated for those engaged in land-use conversations and now is LA’s big chance to change all of that by developing a modern and user-friendly code.

To participate in the listening sessions, visit one of these four events:

Tuesday, July 9
6 – 8 pm
San Fernando Valley Listening Session
Van Nuys City Hall – Council Chambers
14410 Sylvan Street, Second Floor

DWP Scam Alert

Submitted by lizfuller on Sat, 06/15/2013 - 10:18.

In the last few months there have been a few instances of individuals approaching small business customers with LADWP’s CLEO application, asking for cash up front to perform lighting retrofit work, and then never returning to perform the installations that were promised.

Please urge community members to note that LADWP does not charge for energy efficiency rebates or direct installation of efficiency upgrades.

FYI – The Korean community seemed to have been targeted for these scams early on. In response, ads were placed on Korean-language radio to raise awareness. Any additional efforts you can make to reach out to small businesses in the Korean community would be helpful.

For further information, see this flier or contact Victoria Cross, LADWP Government and Neighborhood Liaison, at Victoria.Cross@water.ladwp.com or 213-367-4141.
